India's government has successfully migrated 25,904 rural lenders to a unified ERP system, as part of its initiative to modernize rural lending operations. The system aims to improve efficiency, governance, and speed up loans. Additionally, the government has adopted an electronic HRMS to digitally manage employee records and has launched a project to digitize 300 million national archives over the next two years.
Unacademy Employees to Skip Appraisals in 2024
Unacademy, an edtech unicorn, will not be giving out appraisals to its employees in 2024. According to CEO Gaurav Munjal, the company didn't hit its projected growth numbers, and instead of giving cash bonuses, it will provide performance-linked stock options. The company laid off 250 employees recently and is undergoing restructuring efforts.
India's Quick Commerce Market Gets a New Player: Flipkart
Flipkart, owned by Walmart and India's largest e-commerce firm, has launched its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, in Bengaluru, offering 10-15 minute delivery of a wide range of products.
Rediff’s New Chapter
Infibeam Avenues, a payments infrastructure firm, has acquired 54% of rediff[dot]com, a 28-year-old Indian internet firm that was once valued at $600 million. Rediff was one of India's leading web portals, offering email, news, and e-commerce services, but struggled to adapt to the evolving digital landscape. Infibeam plans to cross-sell financial products to Rediff's 55 million monthly visitors.
