The Tiger Global-backed Toplyne Shuts Down Operations
Toplyne, a San Francisco and Bengaluru-based SaaS startup, has shut down operations, surprising many in the tech community. The company raised over $17 million from investors like Tiger Global and Peak XV and is returning the remaining capital to investors, highlighting the importance of ethical practices in the startup landscape. As many as 8 Indian startups have refunded investors after either ceasing operations or unsuccessful pivots as of October 12. This accounts for 50% of all shutdowns and pivots that have occurred in the current calendar year.
Ericsson Lands New Multi-billion Dollar 5G Contract With Bharti Airtel
Ericsson has received a new multi-billion dollar contract for selling 5G equipment from India's Bharti Airtel, two sources familiar with the matter said. This comes after Ericsson got part of a $3.6 billion contract last month for selling5G equipment to India's Vodafone Idea. Ericsson will announce its third-quarter results on Tuesday.
Chrome's Ublock Origin Warning
So, Google's Chrome Web Store is warning users that uBlock Origin and other extensions might soon be blocked due to Chrome's deprecation of the Manifest V2 extension specification. uBlock Origin is a popular ad blocker and many users are upset because they think it's being "banned" for "security reasons", but it's actually just a change in the way Chrome handles extensions. uBlock Origin's developer is working on a new version that complies with Chrome's new rules, but it's not the same as the current version.
The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine Is Back Online After DDOS Attacks
The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine is back online in a read-only state. DDoS attacks took the entire platform offline on October 9. Founder Brewster Kahle says the service is “safe to resume”.

Zendesk Bug Exposes Fortune 500 Company Data
A 15-year-old bug hunter discovered a single vulnerability in Zendesk, a customer service tool used by over half of Fortune 500 companies, allowing attackers to read sensitive support ticket information. The bug exploited Zendesk's email collaboration feature, allowing email spoofing and ticket access with minimal prerequisites. Despite reporting the issue, the company didn't seem to care.
